  2. Great! I hope you do send a Christmas card to the ACLU. If enough people do it, then we can send a strong message to them. Thanks for visiting! How did you find my blog?

  3. Don’t be discouraged, Betsy, if no one comments. On my blog, there is a person on there about every ten minutes and no one registers or leaves a comment, generally speaking. So, don’t feel too discouraged . . . you aren’t the only one! I hope my comments have added some discussion to your blog . . .

    God bless and Merry CHRISTmas!

  4. In regard to the “Don’t Raise Taxes” post:

Not to be rude at all, Betsy, but I think you may be a little narrow-minded with this issue. (please don’t take this as a personal attack or anything! just an observation!) Yes, it is true that YOU have only ridden a foot ferry once; yes, you don’t go on ferries too much- but you are not Washington state. I think people may be more open to hearing your comments if you incorporated the whole of WA and also told exaclty why these taxes will not be put to good use. (because they “could” be put to good use . . .)

Again, please don’t take this personally. Personally, I agree with you! Taxes are no fun. Just thought I’d leave you some suggestions.

  7. Hi Betsy ,

Some friends of mine spent an afternoon addressing Christmas Cards to the ACLU . It was hoot !

I also voted NO on the PO boats issue . Just an example of the ill thought out plan , passengers only pay now going westbound on the state funded system .. WSF did away with passenger sellers going East as a labor cost saving tactic . Charging the round trip on one side .

Many people who used the PO boats last time admit to going free free on the slower State boats , and paying coming back on the faster PO boats . Basically ripping off both systems .. The PO boats will not stop people from driving around , they will take some passengers from the commute times from the state boats though .. Thus we are just subsidizing two methods at each others costs / If WSF fails to recover 80 percent recovery , those commuters will get a pay hike . The majority of state commuters now can not afford the faster PO boats , the higher pr4ices is the number one complaint of commuters , not speed .. Speed is a luxury in my opinion . Understand it , I commute myself .
I could not afford the PO boats , I waste my money on my family providing food , shelter and I pay my taxes . The tax is basically hurting the ones who can not afford the faster boat to begin with , not to mention the tax payers , that is all of us , that are already paying for the state system .

If it was private I would say go for it ,

  8. Thanks for commenting Mick Sheldon. I agree, speed is a luxury. Why have everyone pay so people can go on faster foot ferries (passenger-only ferries)? Couldn’t they just get up a little earlier, go on the vehicle and passengers ferry, and save us all some money?

  9. Hey there Betsy! Hey Great Blog! I will comment and read it often!

What are you doing for your Paige Bills? Mine is a one cent tax on all purchase’s made (not on each item, only per purchase I.E. a purchase of 500 dollars would only have a tax of 1 cent, but if you made 500 purchase’s it would be a tax of one cent each purchase, I did the math and its an extra 114 million dollars a year! only 1 cent per purchase! it would barely effect citizens personal accounts! We will see how it turns out (-:

  10. Hey Betsy keep up the good work! I’m sure you know about it already but some GREAT news to post would be today’s news regarding the continual ban on partial-birth abortion! Praise God!

  13. Hi!

I just read your post about rallies for rejecting referendum 71– I am organizing a rally in Seattle this summer with the National Organization for Marriage called “2010 Summer for Marriage”. I am looking for a place to hold that rally– I don’t know all the laws associated with rallies, and I would need a bigger but more noticeable venue where there could be speakers…

Any help you could offer would be great. Thanks so much!

    • Hey Brielle,

I’m not familiar with the Seattle area, but if you’re willing to drive down to Olympia, I know you can get permission to be on the front of the capitol steps. It’s a nice venue, can hold a lot of people, and you can set up sound for speakers, etc. What do you think? Let me know how it goes! I might just attend 😀
